jQuery Event Listeners on Dynamically Created DOM Elements

jQuery is a powerful way to manipulate DOM (Document Object Model) elements on a webpage. I will cover a common mistake when trying to build a website with dynamic content that responds to user interactions.

In the following image, which is a sort of twitter clone, new tweets are generated and displayed to the page. The user of the site is allowed to click on any user name to see that user’s full stream of tweets.

I wanted to write about this topic to give back to the community that led me to Hack Reactor. It is posts like this that influenced my decision making. I will cover all my reasons for choosing HR over other schools, so that you may gain some insight into your own choice.

Background

The first thing you need to know is that I have a Computer Science and Computer Engineering Bachelor’s of Science from UC Davis in 2004. In the time since graduation, I have not used this degree save small visual basic scripting in excel.

N-Queens Runtimes

I thought I would post some N-queens runtimes for all to review. These were run using our code that utilized the Parrallel.js library to optimize the work across multiple core cpus. I ran these this morning using my MacBook Pro with a Core i5 at 2.6 GHz and 2 cores.

The machines at Hack Reactor have 4 cores and we were able to run N=19 in 48.5 mins.

Hack Reactor - Week 2 Day 6

Happy it’s the weekend and happy to have a 1 week break. This week I definitely felt fatigue set in over the duration. When I am at Hack Reactor, it is so high energy that my mind is racing pretty much all day. Stay past 10 a few nights in a row and it makes the end of the week hard.
